September 15, 2020: God Loves YOU - Pastor Lynnette Buck

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." Matthew 10:29-31 (ESV)

Reflection

How do you feel about yourself? How do you see yourself? Answer those questions as honestly as you can. Now, I am sure some may be thinking, “What a great way to start the day. All I think and feel is negativity now!” If not, I am happy for you! If negativity is what you thought and felt I want you to know that your pain is real and I acknowledge it!

I have struggled most of my life with feeling less than. I’m stupid, I’m fat, I’m to old, I’m not pretty or attractive, I don’t have enough money, they have everything I want and can’t have…. I think you get the point. The list could go on and on. Not only have I struggled with this, but I am constantly surprised by the number of people of all ages and stages of life that I talk to or observe that feel the same way!

Let me remind you, as I also remind myself, God’s opinion is the only one that really matters and He is absolutely crazy about you! He is the reason you exist and He tells us in His Word that He formed you when you were conceived in your mother’s womb.

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” Psalm 139:13-16 (ESV)

He even gave His own son so you could spend eternity with Him!

“For God so loved the world (that includes you) that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (NIV)

So next time you want to speak negatively about yourself, are looking at pictures of your friends online having a great time or looking great (reminder: often times a filter is used), are feeling down in the dumps about yourself, make a mistake or walk in front of the mirror and don’t like the shape you see think about the last beautiful sunset, the last natural wonder or beautiful flower you saw and remember that the One who created those also created you!
