I love how Paul opens some of his letters with Grace to you and peace from God. This has always brought me hope and encouragement. For a short while I would write that greeting to a group of ladies with the weekly prayer/praise requests.
Then I thought well... what is HOPE?
Merriam-Webster defines Hope as…
To cherish a desire with anticipation, Trust
To desire with expectation of obtainment or fulfillment,
To expect with confidence,
Desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment
We know Grace as - unmerited/ unearned favor
"I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."
Rom 15:13 NLT
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV
So I was thinking then that HOPE is…
H- Holy Minded (praying continuously, giving thanks in ALL circumstances)
O- Outlandish (conspicuously unconventional) Trust
L- Lord is our source of hope, joy, and peace
Y- Why do I try to do this on my own?
God please forgive me for trying to do things on my own, in my time, in my strength. You have provided all for me. Help me please to remain Holy Minded, with an Outlandish Trust in you, to remember you Lord are the source of my hope, joy and peace, and to always give my life over to your will. Thank you for forgiving me for being headstrong at times. Bless my Brothers and Sisters that read this with HOPE in YOU! In Jesus' Name, Amen
