October 1, 2020: Who Worships God? - Laura Harris
Updated: Oct 6
Sometimes I read God’s Word and feel like I am missing the point/meaning. Then at other times reading God’s Word gems seem to leap from the page that speak to my heart. Have you ever wondered - Are we the only created thing that cries out, or worships God?
Using God’s Word to understand/define created to be...
"Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." John 1:3 NIV
"For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him." Colossians 1:16 ESV
I came across this verse and while I understand it to be a situational response I wondered does this begin to answer my question - Are we the only created thing that cry out/worships God?
"Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, 'Teacher, rebuke your disciples.’ Jesus answered, 'I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.'” Luke 19:39-40 NIV
Could other created things really worship God? I searched through God’s Word and found these gems-
"You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands." Isaiah 55:12 NIV
"Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!" Psalm 150:6 ESV
"Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name." Hebrews 13:15 ESV
As I read my Bible I know I am to Praise and Worship God! We can worship with song, words of praise, dancing, singing (making a joyful noise), with grunts/moans and even stand with tears streaming in awe of who He is and how He has everything under control. While I know this somehow I missed that all of creation will/does praise God.
Dear Heavenly Father-
Please let my attitude be of prayer and praise to You. You the great creator, provider, protector, and comforter. Now I know - all your creation worships you. I may not be able to hear it, but you always do. Protect us this day and guide us to a deeper relationship with you - our creator and Savior. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen
