Ephesians 1:3-6 (NIV) "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will-- to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves."
Yesterday, in our nation, was our Presidential Election. Along with voting on who is going to be our President and Vice President there were many other local and statewide positions that our citizens voted for.
Today, Wednesday, November 4, is the day after the election. As I write this it is still too close to call. States are busy counting all the ballots that have come in and are coming in through the mail. Candidates and supporters both wait in hopeful expectation.
But there is another election I would like for you to think upon today. This is a greater election. This is THE most important election of all of history. You see, before God created the world, God saw your name and God took the lever and God voted for you.
Yes, the Creator of all, voted for you. Not only did God create you but God chose you. You were elected by God - that should put a spring in our step and cause us to stand up straight.
What does that mean for us after THE election? Well, it means that now we are to BE holy and blameless in His sight. That is a direct contradiction to moral relativism. Moral relativism is a belief that if I feel something is right - then it is. But God’s Word tells us that we are to BE holy and blameless, not in our sight, but in a holy God’s sight. It doesn't matter what you think - what’s important is what God sees.
The Bible teaches us that God predestined us to be adopted as God’s own children through Jesus Christ. That means that God has always desired that we become a part of the family of God by believing in God’s Son, Jesus, and what Jesus did for us.
So, after THE election, we give God praise for God’s amazing grace which God freely gave us through Jesus Christ, God’s Son and our Savior and Lord.
