November 24, 2020 Scripture Revelation Is Forever Relevant - Jack Brisendine

Christians believe Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness for all age groups. What can everyone learn from such exposure? They can learn “teaching” (truth about God), “rebuking” (truth about error), “correcting” (getting back on the right track) and “training in righteousness” (continuing education in the faith).

Today’s Focus: Young People

Children and teens should be included in worship, and in the local church’s ministries (My pastor has this insight and practices this in our church-what a blessing). Youth need scriptural nourishment so they can come to know, be acquainted with, appreciate it’s importance, and gain an understanding. Young people have the ability to identify with our savior and seek God’s forgiveness and direction. People at a young age are often called of God for present and future leadership in Christian ministry. Many of us have witnessed firsthand, a young person answering God’s call that leads to becoming a mature leader for Jesus. One example: I witnessed the testimony of a young girl giving God praise because her father had just received salvation. She had been praying for her father’s salvation. What a warm embrace the two shared in church that night. Her father is now studying to become a pastor. It is exciting to find someone of any age being used of God! Sing praises!

Matthew 19:14 (NIV) "Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'”

All people (young/older/non-Christians/Christians) need nurturing through scripture so that they can be a part of Christ’s ministry circle. Halleluiah!

A long time ago:

I drew a circle that left God out,

heretic rebel, a thing to flout.

But God above had the Love to win,

He sent his son and took me in.

Christians understand that God’s revelations in scripture are still 100% relevant today.

“God’s Word, the Bible, has been translated into more languages, printed in more sizes, and published in more editions than any other volume in history. Yet its content has never changed or become irrelevant. Its truth is as needed today as when it was first given centuries ago.” (Google)

Let me share a biblical example of a young man named Timothy (probably 16 years old when first used in ministry by Apostle Paul, and approximately 30 years when he was ordained), who became a servant for God and proved himself worthy of his Christian call. Timothy became an influential man of God under Silas and Apostle Paul’s mentoring. Timothy’s education in the Scriptures began when he was only a child, literally at the knee of his mother and grandmother. It is wise to help children become infused with scripture. Read some Psalms and other appropriate scripture, and have a prayer with your children before putting them to bed. What a nice heritage to have if that child was you. It worked for Timothy!

“Timothy was from the Lycaonian city of Lystra in Asia Minor, born of a Jewish mother who had become a Christian believer, and a Greek father. The Apostle Paul met him during his second missionary journey and he became Paul’s companion and co-worker along with Silas. The New Testament indicates that Timothy traveled with Paul the Apostle, who was mentoring him. Paul entrusted him with important assignments. He is addressed as the recipient of the First and Second Epistles to Timothy.” (Google search)

2 Timothy 3:15-17 (ISV) "From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures that are able to give you the wisdom you need for salvation through faith in the Messiah Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good action."

John 10:35 (NIV) "If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be set aside…"

If we build our life around the Word of God, then we—like Timothy—will have found an unshakable foundation. Understanding scripture is imperative for every Christian’s walk. Lets all study, memorize, and internalize personal scripture daily, then share it. Amen

Scriptural Revelation is still Relevant.
