“This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5 NIV).
This passage reminds me of Jesus asking us “how great is our darkness,” in Matthew where it says, “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” Within us there is the possibility of darkness because of the fallen broken world. However, in Him there is not even the remotest possibility of darkness. He is all light, absolutely unequivocally all light, and no darkness.
Which leads us to the underlying question we all have, can we trust him? Without trust there can be no love, and no true obedience. There is, however no darkness in Him at all, therefore we can have trust in our perfect Father that loves perfectly. Trust is capable between Him and us like no other, because He is all light, all love, all perfect—"holy in nature, attributes, and purpose.”
So, can you trust Him? Can you put your utmost faith in Him? Can you give to Him your all?
