"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:21 (NKJV)
I was asked if I would help someone very close to me on a Saturday. I found myself trying to help them help another family member. I was cool with that.
When I arrived I found the situation to be worse than I had thought. My mind started to fill with different thoughts. It was one of those times where you wish you could be just about anywhere else. Hey, don’t judge me!
I know, I know, “I am doing it for the Lord”. I’m sure you have done it too. So don’t hold it against me.
In the middle of cleaning and organizing many different items I noticed were packed away. As I moved some of the items, I was intrigued by the collection of them.
I don’t always look for a spiritual lesson behind every situation, however a thought popped into my mind. “The sum of all its parts”… what does that mean? The words came into my mind about the display items I was working on by cleaning and packing. A snowman here, a Santa Clause here, a Christmas ornament in another box. Is this all life is meant for? Is this the sum of this person's life?
The next thought that popped into my mind… “Where your heart is…” The impression from this little life lesson I was going through was summed up as this, “What are my treasures? If I were to leave behind possessions today what would they look like? What treasures do I have that people would judge me by. What do others see as the impressions of my life?”
Final Prayer: “Oh, Jesus would you be my treasure? Oh, Jesus would you continually turn my heart toward you so others would come to see you also? Jesus, help me use all that you have entrusted to me for your glory and your will. Amen”
