Psalm 23:3a “He refreshes my soul.”

Even David who was much loved by God, knew what it was like to be discouraged. He had tasted defeat in his life and felt frustrated for falling into temptation. David knew how it felt to feel hopeless and without strength in himself to do what is right.

A sheep that falls on its back and cannot get up is called a “cast down” sheep. Lying on its back with its feet in the air, it struggles frantically to be able to stand up. Without success or the shepherd finding it in a short time, the sheep will die. This is why it is so important for a shepherd to find a missing sheep and set it on its feet again if it has fallen over.

God is the same way for us. He is constantly there picking us up and setting us on our feet again. When we mess up and do something wrong, He is there to pick us up again with tenderness and love.

Pray:

Heavenly Father, thank you for always being there to pick me up when I do something wrong. Thank you for refreshing my soul.

In Jesus name, Amen
