Habakkuk’s Complaint

"How long, Lord, must I call for help,

but you do not listen?

Or cry out to you, 'Violence!'

but you do not save?

Why do you make me look at injustice?

Why do you tolerate wrongdoing?

Destruction and violence are before me;

there is strife, and conflict abounds.

Therefore the law is paralyzed,

and justice never prevails.

The wicked hem in the righteous,

so that justice is perverted.

The Lord’s Answer

'Look at the nations and watch—

and be utterly amazed.

For I am going to do something in your days

that you would not believe,

even if you were told.'"

-Habakkuk 1:2-5

Reflection

How often have we started prayers just unloading on God? I have. God, things are BAD here right now. The world is sick and hurting (literally and figuratively). 2020 is *not* going how anyone planned. HELP! How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen?”

But He is listening. He is working even if we can’t see it right now. Instead of watching and worrying about things out of our control, watch and wonder at what God is doing (or going to do).

1 Kings 8:57 promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us. It doesn’t promise that the ride won’t be bumpy. Change your focus to wonder instead of worry and your anxiety will lessen.
