January 7, 2021 Reassurance: Reminders In Answered Prayers - Laura Harris

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 ESV

“Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” Psalm 62:8 ESV

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 ESV

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 ESV

“But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’” Matthew 19:26 ESV

With faith we know we are never alone. God is with us, for us, guiding us, rebuking in love and refining us.

How often have I, while believing in God with my heart, shudder and gasp for breath when something happens out of my control? I am ashamed to admit how often, especially this year. However, I look to the Lord for my strength and continue the race set before me (even if I progress at a snail’s pace at times).

I bring these reminders to us because sometimes we need to see results during a dry period. We need the reassurance of God moving in others’ lives especially if we don’t see it in our own. What better way than to see the answered prayers within our church family.

Tangible answered prayers….

  • We ask for healing and sometimes that healing must be done in heaven. God knows what is best and the whys behind the waiting. While our hearts are grateful the prayer is answered we have this empty place in our hearts for the person who has graduated.

  • We ask for provisions for loved ones so they can arrive home safely. We watched and prayed with the Shoemakers’ for their grandson and granddaughter’s safe return home after serving overseas. Watching and hopeful for results – God made a way where there seemed to be no way and we give thanks.

  • An unexpected trip during COVID to visit a father in Hospice- caused local separation of a family. The entire family cannot go, so two ambassadors travel a three day journey to give love to the father and smiles to a sister (care giver). Prayers answered for safe travel, health and visitation with father despite COVID spike.

  • We ask for healing and we see miracles. Many prayers sent to heaven asking for healing from COVID for a beloved brother, father and son. A scary declaration of illness, prognosis and intubation. But God had other plans to show His greatness in this situation. Not only have we seen healing but a miraculously speedy healing. And now our brother Nate is back and singing praises in the worship team.

  • A prayer for successful eye surgery and healing has been answered by the grace and mercy of our glorious God.

Like the lyrics of a beloved hymn by Cole Porter state-

Count your blessings, name them one by one

Count your blessings, see what God hath done

Count your blessings, name them one by one

And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done

God is Good! I pray we take time to have our breath taken away by God’s majesty and be in awe of HIM.

Recount your blessings one by one and see what the Lord has done.
