August 29, 2020: A Heart Focused On Pleasing God - Jack Brisendine

Hebrews 3:13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
Each day has its own challenges, responsibilities, and problems. Face each day one at a time. I think multi-tasking is overrated, and usually not effective. Focus on Jesus.
The author of Hebrews (Paul) suggests three daily disciplines to help you remain faithful, no matter what day it is:
Today, “hear his [God’s] voice” (Hebrews 3:7). a
Today, “do not harden your hearts” (Hebrews 3:8,15).
Today, “encourage one another” (Hebrews 3:13).
Hebrews 3:7-8 (NIV) 7 So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice, 8 do not harden your hearts
Hebrews 3:13-14 (NIV) 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
Listening to God’s voice, encouraging your brothers and sisters in Christ (and non-Christians I believe), and refusing to harden your heart—three essentials for enjoying daily victory in Christ. You can accomplish these three, and more, with the help of our Lord Jesus.
PRAISE TO GOD
Heavenly Father, thank you for your Holy Word. Teach me how to avoid sin. Help me to really hear whenever you speak to me through scripture, and in prayer. Create in me a way to encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ, and also those who don’t know you yet. Help me to draw strength from other Christian’s examples and fellowship. Lord, grant me a soft, pliable, teachable heart, and one that beats strongly for you. Jesus, please provide me a joyous exciting adventure, as I seek to serve you and others through; scripture, prayer, worship, meeting with other Christians, bringing my tithe, singing praise, and holding other’s needs before you. Jesus, hold me tight as I learn to live victorious in a sinful world. Keep my heart focused on you Father as I finish this amazing race we are sharing. Amen
Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV) 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
What are our desires? Are they Christ centered?
Have our hearts become hardened to God and others?
Are we encouraging others for Jesus?
Is Jesus our guide for our people relationships? He should be.
