“Who provides food for the raven when its young cry out to God and wander about for lack of food?” Job 38:41

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered." Matthew 10:29-30

Reflection

I have friends who are urban missionaries in Canada. They have 4 children and no formal group they are working with to be missionaries. They rely on God for everything...and He comes through every time. She will post on Facebook how they needed $47.53 cents to pay their electric bill and when they went to the mailbox there was an anonymous money order for $47.53. God provides for their needs down to the penny. EVERY TIME. It is amazing to me to see that firsthand through my friends. She posted that they were just gifted $300, enough to cover the repairs on their van. They needed diapers and someone gave them a $50 Walmart gift card. Their bill came out to be $53. She scrounged around in her purse and found a partially used Walmart gift card that had $3 on it. God provides their every need.

They rely on God for their every need...and that's why He provides for them.

I needed to know I had money for diapers. I need to know we have enough in savings in case I lose my job. I have faith that God WOULD provide for us, but I'm not willing to give everything up to prove it. Society would call that being a responsible parent, but I am a bit embarrassed that I don't rely on God for more...even when it's abundantly clear He's the one doing the providing.

Are you willing to give up your security and rely solely on God?

Do you put your trust in God, or in yourself?
