Psalm 23:2b “He leads me beside quiet waters.”
Even though sheep thrive in dry climates, they still need water. They are not like African gazelles that can survive on the moisture found in natural forage (food or feed). The body of a sheep is composed of about 70% of water on an average. This fluid is important to maintain normal life functions. Without this water a sheep would become weak and eventually die.
When sheep are thirsty, they become restless and they go look for water. If they can’t find good water, they will drink polluted water from pot holes that will cause them to become very sick and they could even die.
It is the same way for people. When our soul becomes thirsty, it can only be quenched by turning to Jesus. The problem is we forget to go to Jesus and ask Him to give us what we need. We forget to ask Him to come into our life and help us through the difficult times. We forget to spend time in reading the Bible, God’s Holy Word.
God wants to be there with us. God doesn’t want you to go thirsty but to be confident that He loves you, that He loves to see you content, rested, relaxed, and happy. He delights in you, who He created to have a relationship with.
Dear God, Thank you for giving me the Bible. Help me to remember to spend time reading your Word. Help me to always remember that you love me and you are delighted in me.
In Jesus Name, Amen
