April 10, 2020 Psalm 23:1b - Pastor Frankie Fugate

This devotion was taken from the devotions Pastor Frankie is writing on Psalm 23 and mailing to the children of EVNaz on a weekly basis.

Psalm 23:1b “I lack nothing”

What a proud statement. David was proud, positive, satisfied and content with his owner. David had been through some really hard times. He had an enemy in Saul who chased after him and wanted to kill him. He had a son named Absalom who also was against him. He had to live without many of the things that are thought to be necessary in life like food, clothing, and a home. He experienced hardship and suffering.

David knew that no trouble was too great for a shepherd who cares for his flock.

John 16:33 (NIV)

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Even though things may seem scary, different, or uncertain we can trust the Good Shepherd. He promises to take care of us. We can trust Him!

John 10:10 (NIV)

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

Heavenly Father: Thank you for watching over me. Thank you for sending Your Son, Jesus. Thank you for all you do. Thank you for helping those who need you. Thank you for being my Good Shepherd!

In Jesus Name, Amen
